Hello, my name is Zoey. I am a very beautiful, happy and athletic young adult female Border Collie who keeps trying to get my fur sibs to play with me to no avail…I’m hoping that my persistence will pay off at some point, but we’ll have to see! As with most Border Collies, I have a lot of energy and I admit that if I don’t get enough exercise, I will find alternative ways to keep busy. For example, I have gone so far as to jump on the counter to watch foster dad leave or simply counter surf, so he now puts me in that crate thing even if he leaves for a minute. WHY you ask??? Because apparently, jumping on the counters for any reason is frowned upon in this establishment!!

Anyway, my favorite things include attention, tennis balls, treats, sniffing everything and staying active!! As a matter of fact, I was thinking that agility or flyball may be good ways to use up some energy, that is of course, providing I have the attention span to do them (tee hee!). Dad and I go for a couple 45-minute walks a day which helps mellow me out a bit so I may actually spend some time just laying around. I know the “kennel/crate,” “go potty,” and “wait” commands and I am leash and potty trained. As for that crate that I mentioned earlier…well, if I’m in there and dad is nearby, I’m fine but if I’m left alone, I will yell at him constantly until he takes me out. I have not met any kids and I have a high prey drive so cats are not a good fit for me, but I do get along with other dogs and would love a canine buddy and a yard with a tall fence where we can play at my new furever home.

All I need in my life now is a furever home with an active and patient person who will love me unconditionally and will NOT give up on me! Are you ready to welcome a wonderfully active companion into your life? I promise I am worth it!! Love, Zoey.

Some of our dogs are obtained from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends. Others have come from various situations where they are lacking confidence in humans. In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.

ADOPTION EVENTS:

Adoption events are updated as the foster home RSVP's to attend. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. You may wish to consider applying and setting up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

ADOPTION PROCEDURE:

The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website:

http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/

Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.

All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves. If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website

www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications

and fill out a foster application.

NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
