Description:
Roxy is our official last rescue commitment of 2020 and we couldn't be more excited to have her with us!  She is approximately 8 years old and went to her temporary foster home on 1/2.  She needs all vetting and received her vaccinations today and tested hearworm negative...YAY!!  We were told she is not spayed so we will get her pre-surgical bloodwork done and pending the results will get her scheduled for spay surgery and some dental work, too.  Roxy is good with cats and with kids but can be dog friend selective.  She is currenty in a temporary Illinois foster home but has a couple of long term/forever foster/adoption offers...she is a lucky girl!!!  1/14/21 UPDATE:  Roxy was spayed today, had her teeth cleaned, had a few small bumps removed and was microchipped and she did great!!!  She will be moving to her longer term/potentially forever foster in about a week or so.1/30/21 UPDATE:  Roxy arrived at her Indiana foster home a little over a week ago and she is doing fantastic. She absolutely adores all of her foster skinbrothers and loves nothing more than being in the middle of all of their activities or just cuddling with them.  Roxy will crate up like a dream and sleep in her crate all night with no accidents however she is struggling a little bit with getting her pottying outside routine down during the day.  Foster mom and dad are working on that and have seen some improvement already!3/23/21 UPDATE FROM ROXY'S FOSTER MOM:  Roxy is an 8 year old female, fully vetted Boxer who came into rescue when her owner became ill. She’s EXTREMELY affectionate with her people. She loves cuddling and giving soft kisses almost as much as she loves entertaining herself playing with her various toys. She loves car rides and is completely crate trained. She will chase cats in the beginning, but does settle down and make friends. She has done well with the small male dog in her foster home as well as other males she’s met. We don’t believe she does well with other female dogs. Roxy will need a home that will follow a strict shutdown and provide her with a structured environment. She needs proper and sometimes slow introductions when meeting new people as she can be protective of her people. She will certainly need slow introductions when meeting new male dogs, and again, likely won’t do well with female dogs. She can get overstimulated by a lot of commotion so would likely do best in a lower key environment where she still gets plenty of exercise in a fenced backyard, playing fetch with her people, etc.
