Happy 4th of JULY! Who is ready to have a great summer? Why not adopt a new best friend to enjoy the summer and forever with?  DFW  Adoptions Only- NO exceptions! Little Firecracker  was brought to the shelter where the wonderful team there reached out for rescue help to keep her and her family safe. She was scared and alone. Legacy immediately stepped in to help. Firecracker and her  four adorable babies, Red, White, Blue, and Boom, were abandoned by their backyard breeder and rescued by a good samaritan and brought to the shelter when he could no longer care for the family.   Firecracker and her sweet family are doing great and are all now looking for their very own forever homes. Meet Firecracker!   A HUGE personality in a really small cute package! Firecracker is a female pure bred tea cup apple head Chihuahua with tan fur with beautiful white markings and adorable tipped ears that weighs 5 pounds and is 5 years old.  She is super smart and super sweet, she loves to be held and cuddled, after the hard work of raising her family she is looking forward to being a spoiled princess for the rest of her life. Firecracker loves to "talk" and will speak to you all the time, but she rarely barks. She is crate and house trained. Firecracker walks well on a leash, loves the car and adventures, and loves meeting everyone. She is friendly with other dogs, cats, all people, and considerate kids. Firecracker  is looking for a family where she will be a loved member of the family forever. If you are looking for a new family member and think Firecracker might be the one, please complete an application on our website and her foster mom will be in touch.  The adoption fee is $500.00 and covers her spay (to be done in 1 months of age at an LHS vet), vaccinations, dewormer, first dose of heartworm preventative and microchip.  Please apply at: We do not have a facility to house the dogs in our program. They are all kept in foster homes until they are adopted. Therefore, if you are interested in adopting from LHS, please complete an online application at and we will contact you asap about the status of your application.

FindpetTM is a Participating Pet Recovery Service Registry for the AAHA Universal Pet Microchip Lookup Tool. AAHA provides an internet-based application that enables veterinarians, humane organizations, pet owners or other persons to search various Pet Recovery Service registries and identify those registries on which a particular microchip is registered. AAHA is not affiliated or involved with any specific microchip registry and has no relationship, financial or otherwise, with this Participating Pet Recovery Service Registry ("Registry"). This Registry has given AAHA permission to search the Registry's database in order to assist pet owners in being reunited with their pets. AAHA does not maintain a database of microchips of its own. It only links to registries such as this one. The AAHA Universal Microchip Lookup Tool only searches the databases of companies that elect to participate in the program.
