Description:
Name: Sashimi DOB: 7/4/18 Weight: 8lbs Adoption Fee: 400.00 Hey everyone! My name is Sashimi. I am heartworm positive, but don’t let that deter you! I will be completely healthy again very soon. Since I have heartworm right now, I’m available through the foster to adopt program. Find out more about the foster to adopt program here: https://blog.ruffstartrescue.org/fta/   Sashimi is very new to home living but making the adjustment from street life to home life like a champ! She slept in her crate the whole night without making a peep. She gets along well with the other dogs in the house. All of those dogs are all about her same size so it is unknown how she will get along with larger dogs. She is a bit shy with meeting new people but likes adults and kids alike. She has escaped the yard a couple of times so a secured space would be great for her. Since Sashimi is heartworm positive.  She will need to be treated in at our clinic in St Cloud. Heartworm treatment consists of 3 injections. The first injection will be in roughly 30 days after coming into rescue. The the 2nd and 3rd injections happen 30 days after that. When a dog is going through heartworm treatment, they should be on "restrictions", meaning a lot of lap time, crate time and always on a leash. Heartworm disease is NOT contagious, it is transported via mosquitos.   Here is a great article explaining what heartworm is and how it's treated: https://www.heartwormsociety.org/pet-owner-resources/heartworm-basics An adoption application is the first step in the foster to adopt program.  Ruff Start Rescue Criteria for Adoption: http://www.ruffstartrescue.org/info/display?PageID=11744

FindpetTM is a Participating Pet Recovery Service Registry for the AAHA Universal Pet Microchip Lookup Tool. AAHA provides an internet-based application that enables veterinarians, humane organizations, pet owners or other persons to search various Pet Recovery Service registries and identify those registries on which a particular microchip is registered. AAHA is not affiliated or involved with any specific microchip registry and has no relationship, financial or otherwise, with this Participating Pet Recovery Service Registry ("Registry"). This Registry has given AAHA permission to search the Registry's database in order to assist pet owners in being reunited with their pets. AAHA does not maintain a database of microchips of its own. It only links to registries such as this one. The AAHA Universal Microchip Lookup Tool only searches the databases of companies that elect to participate in the program.
