RESCUING ESTRELLA

A friend of FTTF was made aware of a situation - a young German Shepherd was living outside in not great conditions, underweight and very pregnant. She needed help, and fast. If she had her puppies in her current shape, they were all at risk of becoming sick, or worse. Thankfully, one of our amazing foster homes stepped up to help Estrella and her unborn babies. She was very underweight, but so, so sweet. An x-ray revealed she likely had 10-12 puppies inside her and was due any day. Sure enough, just eight days after becoming part of the FTTF family Estrella gave birth to 11 beautiful puppies! She was a wonderful mom, caring for all eleven puppies until they were old enough to go to their own foster homes. Now she is ready for a home of her own!
 

ABOUT ESTRELLA
Estrella wants to be YOUR shining star (see what we did there?). At 1-1/2 years old, Estrella is full grown and currently weights 65 lbs, but could do well with a few more pounds on her.  Because of her previous history, Estrella was never trained, but she is soooo close to being housebroken, leash- and crate-trained!


Estrella is a strong-willed, energetic beauty.  She is good with cats but is very dog selective so she would be happiest as an only dog, and would do best in a child-free home.  She wants to play with other dogs but she doesn't seem to read other dogs well and becomes overly excited and in their face which most dogs do not seem to like. She is food-motivated and loves to learn.  She enjoys car rides and baths, and sleeps in her crate at night. 

Estrella’s human(s) would preferably be home a lot since she does not like to be confined for extended periods.  It would be best if the home has a secure fence.  Estrella has a lot of energy and requires lots of exercise, and someone who can handle her on a leash.  She will require redirection when encountering other dogs, but with continuous exposure and slow introduction, this could improve.  She is adept at jumping, so she should not be left alone in a yard (she can jump a 5-foot fence!). 

Estrella’s ideal person is someone who leads an active lifestyle, will be a strong influence in Estrella’s life, and is willing and has the patience to work with Estrella, learn her needs, and help her shine. 


 

Our adoption fee is $300. All dogs are current on vaccinations, spayed or neutered, and micro-chipped prior to adoption finalization, on heartworm prevention, and fed premium grain-free food.www.savingpitbulls.org
