Jolene is a 9 month old purebred Old English Sheepdog. She weighs about 55lbs. She will probably be in the 65-70lbs range when full grown. She requires regular grooming and with this breed, it's best to find a great groomer that you like a lot! You're about to be BFF's...With strangers she is initially a bit skittish. But once she knows you she is lovey dovey and full of herself. She's full of character as is typical of an OES. They are often referred to as clowns and boy oh boy does that fit her. She's the life of the party as she bounces from here to there. She rarely walks. She's more like Tigger from Winnie the Pooh. She bounces and hops, skipping away. She is the dog who has so much love to offer and she can't contain it. Her love is infectious. You feel swept up in it.
Jolene is crate trained. She sleeps and eats in her crate. She would of course prefer to sleep on the big bed with her people if she was given that option. But for now, her crate is a safe place for her. She likes to chew on her no-hides or her pig's ears in her crate. She is given a special treat when she goes in and so she doesn't mind the crate.
Jolene gets along great with other dogs. She has been with big and small dogs. She hasn't met a stranger yet. She will make friends with everyone she meets. She's a dog who loves to play. She has been to dog beach and had a blast. She's a great ambassador for the breed. Everyone is automatically drawn to her.
Jolene has hearing loss. We don't know if it was genetic or something happened her first few weeks of life. She has adapted easily to her foster home and being with other dogs, it was almost impossible to tell she didn't hear as well except she is such a sound sleeper!
Jolene is only an option for a home that has had a dog as an adult. If there are children they need to be over the age of 6 or "knock over proof" because Jolene will smother them with her love.
