Hello, my name is Annie, and I am a very sweet young adult female 35 pound Retriever mix.  Foster mom says I'm the best dog. I'm the sweetest, quietest dog.  I am potty and leash trained and good with kids and dogs.

I love napping on a comfy chair or in my crate.  One might call me a couch potato, but I am always ready to go for a walk, car ride, boating, paddle boarding or just zoomies at the dog park.

Zoomies are kinda new to me and my foster mom is so happy when I run.  That's because I had Heartworm Disease and really had to take it easy until my treatment was over.  Then I had a Femoral Head Ostectomy (FHO) surgery and had several weeks of rehab until I could use my leg again.  I likely was hit by a car or had an old injury they say, and it just didn't heal right, but the surgery really helped!

It's been a long year of recovery, but dang am I happy Underdog found me and got me all healthy.  I do require Heartworm meds monthly, for life to be sure those pesky heartworms don't come back.

Aside from naps and walks, I love to eat and turn plushy toys inside out.  Mom gives me lots of chew toys and those are good but nothing beats unstuffing a stuffy.  I'm not very playful with people or dogs, but I have been attempting it occasionally.  Mostly I just want to take a walk with my person and then snuggle. I'm a little too interested in chasing cats, but only because they run!  It might be best to not have a cat in my new home, although if they are a dog savy cat, I would likely learn to ignore them.

I could use another dog in my new home, though.  I really like having a wing-dog show me that things are ok in new situations because I'm a little shy and nervous in new situations.  I come out of my shell pretty quick because I've learned that most of the places we go are fun and have treats and lots of pets and scratches.

Foster mom says I am “practically perfect” and though nobody’s perfect, I sure strive to be. I am a very happy girl who just wants to find a place to call home! Are you a patient person who is full of unconditional love and will NOT give up on me? If you are looking for a wonderful companion who will love you more than life, then we are perfect for each other! I promise I’m worth it and I hopefully will see you soon!! Annie.

ADOPTION EVENTS:

Adoption events are updated as the foster home RSVP's to attend. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. You may wish to consider applying and setting up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

ADOPTION PROCEDURE:

The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website:

http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/

Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.

All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves. If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website

www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications

and fill out a foster application.

NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
