Description:
Thank you for stopping by to see me!   Please check below to see what upcoming adoption events I will be attending or apply here for a private meeting.  If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** Keep checking back for upcoming events I will be attending!   DOB:  10/23/2012 Requires another dog in home: No Okay with dogs of all sizes: Unknown Okay with cats: Unknown Okay with children under 12 years old: No Requires a fenced yard:  Yes Note: dogs must always be leashed whenever outside of a contained area I am a gorgeous tri-color girl who is athletic and loves to be outside and loves, loves, loves walks. Finding interesting scents is my passion.  I'm a smart girl who is very food motivated and learns easily. I can sit, stay, come and am solidly potty trained.  I entered rescue with a LOT of pain and loads of neglect from my past.  I was found on the streets in Texas and that's all anyone really knows. I can be one of the sweetest and affectionate dogs you'll meet, however if I don't like something in the slightest or if I think something belongs to me I will bite and bite aggressively. Working with me on this is critical to my success as a good dog. I need an owner who is comfortable rehabilitating a dog that bites and also has good reflexes! I have a behaviorist that my foster has worked with through Underdog and continuing to follow my plan is very important. I am on medication for anxiety to help me with self control. I need to be completely sedated by a veterinarian to be groomed. I do awesome in a crate, though I do like to sleep near my person. I play with toys occasionally and I can get pretty silly. I will remind you daily when it's time for a walk or when I need a snack.  I love meeting children, but I should never be trusted with them, so please no children in my forever home. I need a fence to keep me safe because I love to be outside so much. I don't need another dog in my home, but if there is one, they should be patient with me. Sharing is not my thing at all with both dogs and people. Darcy is a work in progress, she's a project and she will bite, but at the same time she's very loving, loyal and affectionate. She needs to learn to control her impulses and that takes time and patience. She really is a wonderful dog, but she needs some extra help with a a patient and experienced handler.     Many of our dogs are obtained from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends.  In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs. ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***    ADOPTION EVENTS:   Adoption events are updated as the foster home RSVP's to attend. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. You may wish to consider applying and setting up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.   ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.   FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves. If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application.   NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.   YOU CAN HELP: Not able to foster or adopt right now? FindpetTM is a Participating Pet Recovery Service Registry for the AAHA Universal Pet Microchip Lookup Tool. AAHA provides an internet-based application that enables veterinarians, humane organizations, pet owners or other persons to search various Pet Recovery Service registries and identify those registries on which a particular microchip is registered. AAHA is not affiliated or involved with any specific microchip registry and has no relationship, financial or otherwise, with this Participating Pet Recovery Service Registry ("Registry"). This Registry has given AAHA permission to search the Registry's database in order to assist pet owners in being reunited with their pets. AAHA does not maintain a database of microchips of its own. It only links to registries such as this one. The AAHA Universal Microchip Lookup Tool only searches the databases of companies that elect to participate in the program.
