uden (Lu) is a very sweet, very strong adolescent dog who sometimes acts like an adult while at other times is very childlike.  Lu is extremely active and would be best suited for an owner with some experience handling unpredictable behavior.  When he is excited, he has potential to be “mouthy” and is probably not a good dog to be around small children, only because he would be excited (not aggressive). He has been with us for two months and in that time has come a long way towards learning routines and how to be a responsible citizen of the dog world. As of now, we are not yet comfortable with him at a dog park or other situations where he would be tempted to act out inappropriately. We have introduced him to many other dogs in one on one situations and it generally takes a while for him to acclimate and be calm enough to be safely off leash. After structured introductions he usually does well with other dogs but does play very energetically. He has good potential to be in a two dog household and would actually benefit from that if it’s a good fit with the other dog. Lu is a very smart dog and adjusts easily to new rules and structure.  He is excellent at ‘fetch’ and ‘drop it’ and enjoys that more than most retriever dogs. He will definitely be suited best for someone who does not mind throwing a ball! Lu walks on a leash well (until he sees other dogs-then he gets really excited) and is fully house and crate trained.  He is quite the snuggler and loves to hang out on the couch/dog bed. We want to see Lu succeed in a family that can provide him with love and limits. He is a wonderful boy who will make a great family member!
