Description:
Introducing TROY, a very handsome Pit Bull Terrier mix who is around 2 years of age and weighs about 45 pounds. Troy is an active dog who requires daily exercise including daily walks, and could also go for runs a couple times a week; he’s very athletic. Troy is a very loving dog who wants to snuggle and be close to his foster family. He lives with two medium/small dogs as well as two children under the age of 13; he gets along well with all, but tends to be a little too energetic and enthusiastic for the other dogs in the household.

Troy loves playing frisbee, chasing his tennis ball, or plays with his rope toy in the fenced yard. In addition, he absolutely loves going on walks - which he currently gets twice a day. Troy walks nicely in general but does become reactive when he sees another dog. To address this, he has been put on a daily anti-anxiety medication plus has undergone an 8 week long training class for reactive dogs, which he did do well in. He did great with a private play date with larger dog who was easy going and playful. Troy's adopter will need to be a knowledgeable prior dog owner who can be a leader for Troy.

Troy is a smart dog who learns quickly and now knows commands like sit, shake, down, and stay.  For inside the home, Troy does best in a calmer home. Troy needs a patient slow introduction with new people and new dogs because he can be protective of the family; however, once he get to know a person, he loves them unconditionally. Because of this behavior, we are requiring previous dog ownership. He is approved for households with adults only or adults with older teens.

This dog has been examined by a licensed veterinarian, provided inoculations against diseases, been tested for heartworm disease, neutered, and microchipped.  ADOPTION APPLICATIONS are available by request from acaringplace@comcast.net.
