Hello, my name is Olympus, but I also answer to Linus…I know, random right? Anyway, I am an incredibly handsome adult male who recently hitched a ride on the freedom-train to Minnesota from Texas and wow what a culture shock…foster mom had to carry me outside and coax me along because I was so frozen my body didn’t want to move. Needless to say, I now understand the need for a winter wardrobe!!

I am not completely sure what makes up my heritage but I know I’m a small boy with big bark and anytime you want to hear it just put me in that cave thing you people call a “kennel/crate”…yep, that’ll do it!!! That is of course, unless you put my meal in there then my body breaks into a happy dance, and I will gladly eat my meal then promptly demand release! Additionally, I have told mom in no uncertain terms that putting me in the cave at night would be to the detriment of all because I guarantee nobody in the house will get a wink of sleep!! Simply put, you have been warned!! All that said, my bark may be big, but I am a very loving and kind little guy who is always willing to give second chances so if you put me in that cave, I will yell at you but I won’t hold a grudge!

I admit I can be a bit timid when I first meet people in fact, it took several days before I slowly took a leap of faith, with some snack help (hee, hee), and granted my foster fam some tail wags. Now, I have become so comfortable that I will even take treats from their hands…how awesome am I??? My favorite hobbies include playing with stuffed squeaky toys; chewing on non-rawhide chews; lounging in a nice cozy dog bed or on the couch with my peeps; eating treats and raw sugar-snap peas (favorite veggie EVER); and simply finding things to keep me busy whether it be counting the squares in a toilet paper roll, chewing on mom’s paint brushes or rearranging the cat beds and blankets…OH, C’MON you have to admit that confusing the cats is hysterical!! I would love to play with them, but they’re stuck up and will have none of it so what else can I do! That said, I think a dog savvy cat would love me and maybe even get my sense of humor!! Hee, hee, hee!!! Speaking of humor, mom says I crack her up at night because she finds me sleeping flat on my back with my feet in the air…nothing says “take me away Sandman” like sprawling on one’s back I say!! It’s also an awesome way to show off my wonderful overbite that mom thinks is so adorable!

I have not met any kids, but I love playing with other dogs (even the crazy Chiweenie who often charges me) and I hope I have a canine playmate at my new home. I enjoy a nice, leashed walk around the neighborhood and with a regular schedule, I am doing very well at potty training, I will even go to the door to let mom and dad know I need to go out.

Mom and dad are going to miss me SO much when I go to my new home, but they know that I have always dreamed of finding a committed furever family who will love me unconditionally and help me continue to gain confidence and trust in people. Are you ready to welcome a great cuddle buddy into your life? I sure am ready to welcome an incredible furever family into mine! If YOU will be my new family, I promise I will let you give me ALL the chest and tummy rubs you want…seriously, I’m doing it for you!!! Love, Olympus

Some of our dogs are obtained from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends. Others have come from various situations where they are lacking confidence in humans. In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.

ADOPTION EVENTS:

Adoption events are updated as the foster home RSVP's to attend. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. You may wish to consider applying and setting up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

ADOPTION PROCEDURE:

The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website:

http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/

Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.

All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves. If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website

www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications

and fill out a foster application.

NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
