Requires a fenced yard:   No Note: dogs must always be leashed whenever outside of a contained area Hi I'm Gunnar! I'm a special needs boy who is looking for a family that will love me and take care of me.  I'm now 25 pounds and thought to be about full grown!  When I was just a pup I was hit by a car.    The wonderful people at Underdog took me in and began treating my injuries.  My skin healed but the accident has left me paralyzed in my hind legs and incontinent.  I wear a belly band and diaper and think I look quite cute in them if I say so myself! Don't let this scare you.  I  do not require my people to express my bladder, but I do need someone home during the day to change my diaper so I do not get sores.  I would need someone home every 4-6 hours even after Covid.  I t's actually pretty easy to change me and bonus is you don't have to take me out when it's raining or cold outside!  Lucky right? I went to rehab and did underwater therapy and got a neat wheelchair that I started practicing in. Life threw another curve ball to me when one of my legs came out of the socket.  The doctor said it was going to cause me lifelong problems and needed to be removed.  So now I'm a three legged paralyzed boy.  Don't be sad because I'm much happier without it.  I'm so fast without it getting in my way now!  I can walk around fine without my wheelchair with my back leg in a drag bag.  It's a cute scootch and hop.  I'd do best in a home without stairs or a home that will keep me safe with baby gates so I can't accidentally take a fall.  I love food but I do best with a raw diet so I really need my new family to continue this.  I love all people and enjoy pets and scratches.  I will bark when excited.  I'm just letting you know there's a new friend at the door.  They probably came to see me anyway!  I love bones and toys and will even fetch balls.  I don't always bring them back but I love the chase.  I was a little afraid of a cat I met, so I stay away from those - I mean, I couldn't catch one anyways since I'm told they are faster than me! My foster mama says I'm ready to spread my wings and fly and share my love with the world.  Will you be that special someone? This puppy requires an application fee. This fee must be paid within 24 hours or your application will be considered void.  We will not review or contact applicants that have not completed the payment portion. Puppy Applications will be responded to within 5 business days, after receipt of the application fee.  Please understand that paying the fee does not guarantee you will be approved to adopt the puppy. Our goal is place puppies in homes that are suited for their individual needs. You may be willing and able to provide a great home, but if it doesn’t meet the specific needs of the puppy, we will not approve your application. We accept applications for puppies until we have a candidate that meets all of the requirements needed for the specific puppy and they have been contacted to review the adoption process as well as agree to all of the terms to move forward. ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***    ADOPTION EVENTS:   Adoption events are updated as the foster home RSVP's to attend. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. You may wish to consider applying and setting up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.   ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website:   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at if you have further questions.   FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves. If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  and fill out a foster application.   NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.   YOU CAN HELP: Not able to foster or adopt right now? FindpetTM is a Participating Pet Recovery Service Registry for the AAHA Universal Pet Microchip Lookup Tool. AAHA provides an internet-based application that enables veterinarians, humane organizations, pet owners or other persons to search various Pet Recovery Service registries and identify those registries on which a particular microchip is registered. AAHA is not affiliated or involved with any specific microchip registry and has no relationship, financial or otherwise, with this Participating Pet Recovery Service Registry ("Registry"). This Registry has given AAHA permission to search the Registry's database in order to assist pet owners in being reunited with their pets. AAHA does not maintain a database of microchips of its own. It only links to registries such as this one. The AAHA Universal Microchip Lookup Tool only searches the databases of companies that elect to participate in the program.
