Saban is a very handsome boy. At 5 years old, he sometimes thinks he's still a puppy and has the energy of a puppy. He is curious about anything and everything new to him. He is very affectionate and loving and will eat up all the attention he can get. Saban is also very playful. He loves to play tug with his humans, as well as being chased. He can be quite the mischievous guy at times. For that reason, he needs a yard and daily walks to burn off some of that energy.

Saban has been trained in basic commands but could use a bit more training when it comes to calming down. He will do best with a breed experienced owner who is willing and able to continue his training. One of the many great things about him is that he wants to please and is willing to learn, especially if treats are involved.

Like any other dog, Saban will do well with other dogs when properly introduced. He will get along with another dog but it would need to be a dog with similar energy. He is not the type of dog who will sit and accept a dog rushing or jumping on him or aggressively meeting him but would you sit back and do nothing in that situation? Due to his size and playfulness, Due to his high energy level, Saban would do best with older children, over 12 years of age and will not be adopted to a home with small kids.

Saban was found abandoned in an empty house in Norfolk, VA. His previous family moved and left him behind to fend for himself. The neighbors heard his barks and called animal control. When animal control arrived, Saban was found severely malnourished and underweight. He weighed about 65 pounds. He had multiple skin infections and was very aggressive around his food and eating area. Saban stayed at the shelter to recover for a few weeks prior to coming to SSRR. At 110 pounds, this incredibly sweet boy is no longer underweight. And, as you can see, is as happy as can be.
