Please contact Kathleen Wilson (kathleenw@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.Happy dude excited to meet you!DEXTER NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!! Name:  Dexter      Best Guess for Breed:  Shepard Mix    Best Guess for Age:  2-3 years old as of 5/7/20      SEX:  male Approximate Weight:  57lbs Gets Along With:  Other dogs. Dexter has not interacted kids or cats, but we can always test him Currently Living at: DC area foster home. Special adoption considerations:  Dexter is a strong, high-energy dog. Commitment to obedience and daily running/dog park or daycare would be best for him to be able to get as much exercises as he needs. Dexter is Looking For:  A family to provide long walks and daily trips to the dog park! Sweet Dexter would love a forever home where he could go on daily runs. He would love toys and a bed of his very own too. Dexter is a happy boy and can't wait to snuggle up after a long day of fun with his forever family.   What My Foster Says About Me: Dexter's first day: Dexter is such a sweetheart. After our hour long walk in bull run park, where he was super excited (I would be too after a long car ride north), we made it back to our house. Aside from a few attempts to give kisses and climb up front, Dex was a great travel companion. After exploring the new digs, Dexter showed his skills chasing and bringing back his new ball. After a few circles around us, he would drop the ball and get excited to chase it down again. He demonstrated great potty training alerting us to his call to nature and, having settled in a bit, demonstrated excellent leash training on our evening walk. He would benefit from future training and socialization. We couldn’t have asked to foster a sweeter dog! Dexter loves treats, but stays out from under your feet while you're cooking--he likes watching intently from the doorway. He loves a good ear scratch and likes to be petted.  During the day, he is content with sleeping on the dog bed on the floor near someone in the house.  At night, he easily goes into his crate.  He is not possessive of food or toys, but loves to eat and play.  He is also fine with getting his feet wiped when he needs to come in the house.  Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $350, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. FindpetTM is a Participating Pet Recovery Service Registry for the AAHA Universal Pet Microchip Lookup Tool. AAHA provides an internet-based application that enables veterinarians, humane organizations, pet owners or other persons to search various Pet Recovery Service registries and identify those registries on which a particular microchip is registered. AAHA is not affiliated or involved with any specific microchip registry and has no relationship, financial or otherwise, with this Participating Pet Recovery Service Registry ("Registry"). This Registry has given AAHA permission to search the Registry's database in order to assist pet owners in being reunited with their pets. AAHA does not maintain a database of microchips of its own. It only links to registries such as this one. The AAHA Universal Microchip Lookup Tool only searches the databases of companies that elect to participate in the program.
