Meet Duchess! Its hard to believe, but this adorable girl was tossed over the fence at animal control one morning. They posted about it and we went to rescue her. They estimated her to be 6-7 weeks old and she weighed about 7 lbs. We are not sure of her breed mix, but a dog photo identifier suggested Anatolian Shepherd, and she does have the double rear dewclaws typical of that breed, so maybe that is a good guess? If that is the case, she should be a large sized adult dot. Duchess has been playing with about 10 other puppies who are a little older than her but not as big. Shes doing great getting along with them. She wants to be a little bit mouthy when she plays – with puppies and people both -- which most likely means she was separated from her siblings too young. It is great that she now has other puppies to play with and learn from as they do teach each other to play without hurting each other. At this point Duchess would not be a good choice for a family with toddlers or probably any children under about 8-10 years old. Experience training very young puppies or an older dog who will help train her would be a plus for Miss Duchess, She should do well if just redirected to appropriate chew toys and bones. Duchess is now over 8 weeks old so she is ready to start her forever life – with someone who will love and cherish her. She had a rough start in her little life and deserves a do-over. If youd like to meet her, please email jojosdogrescue@gmail.com and we will send you an application, or visit our website: www.jojosdoghouse.com and download one.
