Description:
Tia was rescued from the county animal control. She strayed into a yard and was turned in with her sister, Tamara.

With a guesstimated birthday in Oct. 2021, Tia weighs about 30 lb.

Tia is suspicious of strangers, but friendly with people she knows well. She allowed herself to be picked up and put in the rescue van without struggling.

In late May, 2022, Tia was chosen to be fostered! Her foster mom has shared the following resume points:
*Good w other dogs, on & off leash.
*Good with my cat, who is used to dogs & sets boundaries
*Wary of strangers but receives female affection if they take it slow. Not as receptive of men.
*Getting better walking on *short* leash... still pulls. Skittish & pulls when cars approach, but stopping & assuring her helps.
*Goes in crate easily.
*Ok in crate overnight.
*Loves affection & belly rubs. Gives kisses.
*Only barks if hears another dog barking.
*Shes a chewer, so needs appropriate things to express this natural tendency
*Entertains herself with toys.

"She knows “In your bed!” command and if I remain close by, she will actually stay in the bed, playing with her toys. Once asleep, I can trust her to stay put for awhile… "

This adoptable pup is now being housed at our Bunch Anderson shelter, beginning June 23rd, awaiting transport to an area in more need of adoptable dogs. If youre interested in this pup, please contact us immediately as their residency in our care isnt long-term.

Whether dogs / puppies come in as strays or owner surrenders, we usually have to make our best guess as to birthdate and breed.

If adopted into a home with other animals, particularly cats, your new pet should be crated or secured when youre not available to supervise to insure a harmonious relationship.

A vet reference is required to confirm responsible pet ownership. Requirement is a minimum three year vet history documenting current / previous pets are spayed / neutered, kept up to date on core vaccinations, and on heartworm prevention. We suggest first time pet owners without a vet history look for an adult dog for companionship and to gain experience. Other rescues or your local government-run animal control agency may have different adoption requirements.

Adoption fee covers two vaccinations. Additional fees for 3rd puppy vaccination, refundable spay/neuter deposit, etc. may apply.

We are an all-volunteer, foster-based rescue. We receive no funding from agencies.

Not all foster dogs are available for viewing during public events at Tractor Supply (360 Blowing Rock Blvd) in Lenoir, NC. Available animals can be seen most Saturdays at Tractor Supply in Lenoir from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. We recommend interested parties contact us to pre-qualify for adoption so their new furry family can go home once paperwork is complete. Fees are required in cash. For more information on our organization, our website is www.petpartnersrescue.org.
