Description:
Meet Umbra! She is a sweet, 2 year old hound mix with an affectionate personality. Umbra is currently in a foster home and doing well. She gets along great with her canine housemates, and she loves her crate. When she has free reign of the house, she is well-behaved and has not had one accident! Umbra can be high energy at times, especially in the mornings, but this can be managed with plenty of exercise and enrichment. She is a pro at zoomies, and outrunning her canine housemates is one of her very favorite things. Umbra is still learning how to walk on the leash, so she will need a fenced in yard to potty and ensure no accidents in the home. And with her playful nature, she will need a canine companion in the home with a similar play style. Umbra can be skittish and unsure at times, and is currently on medication to help alleviate her anxiety. She needs an adopter who will be patient and committed to giving her enough time to settle into a new environment. Since we want to ensure that we are setting Umbra up for success, we may ask for more than one visit with potential adopters to give Umbra the opportunity to find her confidence with new faces. We are also asking for older children only in the home to ensure a calm environment for her. If you would like to learn more about Umbra, you can email her foster mom at laura.poole@vbspca.com. Please note that Umbra is in a foster home and not currently at the shelter.

FindpetTM is a Participating Pet Recovery Service Registry for the AAHA Universal Pet Microchip Lookup Tool. AAHA provides an internet-based application that enables veterinarians, humane organizations, pet owners or other persons to search various Pet Recovery Service registries and identify those registries on which a particular microchip is registered. AAHA is not affiliated or involved with any specific microchip registry and has no relationship, financial or otherwise, with this Participating Pet Recovery Service Registry ("Registry"). This Registry has given AAHA permission to search the Registry's database in order to assist pet owners in being reunited with their pets. AAHA does not maintain a database of microchips of its own. It only links to registries such as this one. The AAHA Universal Microchip Lookup Tool only searches the databases of companies that elect to participate in the program.
