Updated 9-21-22: Meet Cocoa, a 6-year-old Biewer Yorkie - a rare find in the rescue world!

In her first home, Cocoa was an indoor dog who spent most of her days watching the news with her owner who absolutely adored her. Cocoa does not associate being outside with going potty. She will use the potty pad indoors most of the time but does have accidents throughout the day. Her foster mom is working on potty training with her.

Cocoa is up to date on all vaccinations and has been spayed. She is scheduled to have her teeth cleaned at the end of September. Unfortunately, she was fed hot dogs and chicken for the majority of her life. She is a tad bit overweight and has a history of kidney stones. Due to this, the vet started her on urinary prescription dog food. Her foster mom is working diligently on getting her adjusted to not eating human food. Cocoa also has a history of luxating patella, which is common to the Yorkie breed.

Going for walks has been a new experience for Cocoa - she absolutely loves being outside!! She walks on a leash like a pro.

She gets along with males and females, kids, dogs, and cats. She does best with calm dogs. She does not really play with toys or other dogs, but she coexists happily. She follows her foster mom everywhere and is content snuggling on the couch and getting belly rubs. Cocoa does ok when left alone for a short period of time, but definitely has some separation anxiety.

She does not jump up on furniture at all. Her foster mom lets her sleep in the bed with her at night and she does perfect until the morning when her foster mom puts her down on the floor when it is time to get up.

Cocoas ideal forever home would be with a family who is patient and understanding, as potty training and getting her used to the prescription food will take time. She will be her owners shadow and wants to be with them as much as possible. Cocoa is very go-with-the-flow and has a lot of love to give! She is a joy to be around.

Stay tuned as Cocoas personality continues to come out.
