KIRY was an owner surrender to the NYCACC, the NYC municipal shelter which is a kill shelter. The reason they gave him up was apparently a heart murmur. He lived his whole life outside in a dog house with another dog. the fed him one small cup of food a day. At the shelter he was nervous but maintained a neutral position. He accepted all handling and leaned in for contact. He was slated for euthanasia but a foster saw him and had to save him. We are so grateful to that foster, KIRYS STATS: Approximate age 8-10 Approximate weight: 70lbs Breed (s) mixed large Spayed or neutered? Yes Good with: kids? Yes strangers? Yes other dogs? No cats? No On leash? Yes Housetrained? Yes Crate trained? Yes Paper trained? No Kiry needs to be the only pet in the home. He is a senior dog who kinda waddles like a duck and needs to not have to tackle stairs to get to his family. He would do best on a single level in a home with an easily accessible yard. Kiry previously lived outside and loves to be outside so a fenced in yard or deck where he can hang out would be great. Kiry is very sweet, he loves to give kisses and to be pet. He’s still got a lot of love left to give to a new family
