Oakley
Currently fostered in Toms River, NJ

Oakley is looking for his final and forever home!

Oakley is a 8-9 month old Australian Shepherd mix who was rescued along with 8 of his siblings from a high-kill shelter in Texas when their time was up. We are happy that our rescue was able to step in to save this sweet boy.

Oakley weighs around 45-50 pounds and is up to date on all of his vaccines, including Rabies, Bordetella, Distemper, Leptospirosis, and Lymes. He is also up to date on his heart-worm preventative and flea/tick preventative. Oakley will be neutered prior to adoption (his appointment has been scheduled!).

Oakley is currently fostered in Toms River, NJ. He is able to be transported by our rescue to his forever home. Oakley is fostered with two other dogs and a cat. He is great with all! He is potty-trained and is crate-trained, but prefers not to be left home for extensively long hours.

Oakley was previously adopted into a home without another canine sibling/friend and we quickly learned that this was not the best fit for him. He experienced some separation anxiety when crated home alone. This behavior has not occurred since arriving back to his foster home. He happily goes into his crate (even when he doesnt have to!) and is left in his crate when his foster parents run their daily errands. We are requiring that Oakley be adopted into a home with another dog - he LOVES the company of another buddy.

Oakley does not currently live with children, but has been exposed to children during various outings with his foster family. He would be great in a home with children.

Finally, Oakley has an eye condition called "Entropion." This condition is only in one of his eyes. Oakley has been seen by our rescue veterinarian, who has advised that we wait until Oakley is a year old to move forward with surgery. Oakleys condition has improved immensely since he has been us and our hope is that his condition will self-correct. If his condition has not improved around his 1 year birthday, we will re-evaluate and schedule surgery. Surgery for this condition is uncomplicated and requires about a week of recovery.
