Well hiya! My name is BRUCE (or Zeus, as they call me down here in Mehicoooo) and here is some info about me:

PHYSICAL INFO:

\tBreed: Border Collie Mix
\tAge: approx. 1.5 years
\tGender: Male
\tWeight: 33 lbs (15kg)

RESCUE STORY - I was found at about 6 months old walking around in one of the the lowest income neighborhoods on the outskirts of Guadalajara. I was limping and was in really rough shape. My rescuer was told by neighbours that I used to have owners, but a few months earlier, they saw me be thrown from the roof of a two-storey house. After that, I was left on the streets to fend for myself. Thank goodness I was rescued and was taken to the vet to get treatment for my injuries. I have been lucky enough to live in a foster home since I was rescued.

TEMPERAMENT - I am a young, playful, energetic border collie boy! I love to play and I am learning how its nice to be loved. I can be shy and I do get nervous around men, most likely due to past trauma. I will bark at men at first but once I feel safe, I warm up and show my happy-go-lucky personality (video). I am looking for an active family who can give me lots of exercise and mental stimulation. I also need a family with a lot of patience and love and a willingness to work with me on my trust issues with men. The key to my heart is to be patient with me and to give me unconditional love. Once you earn my trust, I will repay you with a lifetime of companionship and loyalty (and walkies, LOTS of walkies!)

Foster update: My foster mama says that despite the abondonment and abuse I experienced early on in life, I am still showing tons of love and affection to my hoomans (check out this video). She says I am a very sweet, energetic, and playful boy. I love to play with my canine foster siblings and my fave part of the day is when we go for runs or hikes.

ENERGY LEVEL - High - I exhibit typical working-dog energy. My future fam should be familiar with border collie / working breed temperaments and should pretty active. I love hikes, walks, runs, and wrestling with other dogg-os. The key to success with me is going to be through exercise and play! I am a smart boy who will likely burn lots of mental energy if we do obedience training or scent work/puzzles. Once I am sufficiently tuckered out (both mentally and physically), I am a sweet, chill boy who is happy to have a snooze sesh.

GETS ALONG WITH:

\tKids Unknown. I am a social, sweet boy but I havent officially been tested with children.
\tDogs Yup! I am currently living with some other dogs and we get along great. I LOVE to play, so it would be great if I could live in a home with another dog or if I could have playdates with some doggy friends. As you can see from my video, I dont have an aggressive bone in my body - Im even happy to share my rope toy with my fwends.
\tCats Not tested

PREY DRIVE - Unknown. Im not too sure how Ill react around cats/squirrels/rabbits etc., so my adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise.

TRAINING:

\tLeash skills Pretty good! I am a smart boy who will continue to learn in my new home; a well-fitted harness and lots of positive reinforcement will help me become a leash pro pretty quick. Check out my leash videos here and here - Im pretty dang good!
\tHouse trained Work in progress. Frequent potty breaks and positive reinforcement will help me continue to learn in my new home :)
\tCar trained - TBD - I havent been on any road trips yet.

Please Note: WCP will provide 1 complimentary training session with Hannah before the finalization of your adoption. WCP highly encourages adopters to do some research and training before their dog arrives.

HEALTH NOTES:

\tI am neutered and vaccinated. I will come to Canada with proof of all my vaccines and test records.
\tI receive a monthly pill to prevent heartworm.
\tNOTE: dogs from this region in Mexico are not microchipped. This will be the responsibility of the adopter.
\tI had x-rays when I was first rescued. I had a leg injury that thankfully didnt require surgery, just 2 weeks of total rest at the vets office. Im fully recovered and I can run and walk like any other dog now.
\tI had a mouth full of oral warts when I was rescued (likely from drinking dirty water and scavenging for food), but I was given medication at the vet and they have gone away completely now.

ADOPTION FEE:

\tMy adoption fee is $750.00 CAD + applicable taxes, which includes my airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver.
