Pacific Grove, CA, 93950
Pet name:
Cavalier King Charles Spaniel
Looks like: Spaniel Mix
Male, 4 years old, 16 pounds

Pompy is an amazing, resilient dog. He was very shut down when he first came to POMDR, but in the loving care of his foster home, he has blossomed. He has a moderate energy level, walks nicely on leash, and loves to go for walks.

He enjoys playing with toys and gets along well with the other dogs in his foster home. When out in the world, Pompy is nervous about dogs he doesnt know coming into his personal space (closer than 2 feet or so), so he would do best with an adopter who isnt interested in socializing with other dogs, especially off leash. He can live with other dogs if introduced appropriately. He seems to be more comfortable with dogs his size than with larger dogs. He does very well with neutral, slow, older dogs. Pompy would be too excitable to live in a home with a kitty friend so he is searching for a home that is cat free.

He loves meeting people and wants to be friends in a very gentle and endearing way. He may be a tiny bit shy at first but quickly warms up. He will gently paw at you for pets and love and will give gentle kisses and ask to be in your lap, but he is also content curling up in a bed nearby. He absolutely loves affection and petting. When you meet him, his soulful eyes will melt your heart.

Pompys foster family has done lots of training with him, so he has a great foundation for walking nicely on leash, paying attention to his person, and sitting. He is a quick learner and an intelligent dog. Hed do wonderfully with someone who wants to continue his training, which is good for his mind and his confidence. Let us know if you might be the perfect fit for this very special gentleman.

Pompy came to us from Hitchcock Road Animal Services after being picked up as a stray.

FindpetTM is a Participating Pet Recovery Service Registry for the AAHA Universal Pet Microchip Lookup Tool. AAHA provides an internet-based application that enables veterinarians, humane organizations, pet owners or other persons to search various Pet Recovery Service registries and identify those registries on which a particular microchip is registered. AAHA is not affiliated or involved with any specific microchip registry and has no relationship, financial or otherwise, with this Participating Pet Recovery Service Registry ("Registry"). This Registry has given AAHA permission to search the Registry's database in order to assist pet owners in being reunited with their pets. AAHA does not maintain a database of microchips of its own. It only links to registries such as this one. The AAHA Universal Microchip Lookup Tool only searches the databases of companies that elect to participate in the program.
