Solid gray, short hair, neutered male, born approx. 8/1/21, #17218 Cats: likes Dogs: tolerates Children: maybe Not everyone is a fan of having cats hanging around outside his or her home. Poor Luke and his siblings were struggling to survive in such a situation, and the property owners were anything but gracious to their feline tenants. A kindhearted woman was distraught knowing the cruelty that the kittens were enduring, so she scooped them up and reached out to The Rescue House for help. We were happy to take them into our care, get them healthy, and assist them with finding wonderful forever homes. Luke is now ready for adoption, and he cant wait to meet his new people! Initially, Luke progressed quickly in foster care and would roll over onto his back for pets, showing what a loving kitty he is! We soon realized that he is not fond of change as there was a little bit of a setback after he was poked and prodded at the doctors office. Then, there came a switch in his foster rooms, and that caused some additional distress. Similar to many humans, Luke thrives on consistency, stability, and continuity. He wants the same stuff to happen in the same place every day. In fact, he will cry to express his anxiety and uncertainty if placed in a new environment or situation. For this reason, Luke isnt the kitty for everyone; he needs a special person that enjoys the exact things that he does: routine and regularity. Even when that is what is on offer, Luke still will be very timid and takes time to adjust to unfamiliar people and in novel surroundings. This bashful guy prefers to explore gingerly at his own pace and greatly appreciates having the safety of a hidey-hole to retreat to should he feel unsure or need a break. (Overcoming your fears and getting used to something different can be hard and overwhelming work, so you cant blame him for wanting a time out!) You may feel compelled to pick him up to soothe him at these times, and your heart will break for this brave little dude as he tightens his body and clings to you for security. While he needs a healthy dose of patience and kindness as he settles in, this handsome fella is well worth the wait! Once he becomes comfortable, Luke happily will accept pets and will purr away in delight! As you get to know him, you will fall head-over-heals for him because of his sweetness and cute quirks. For example, he loves hanging out in a hammock, chillaxing the day away; however, he is sure to perk up and tell you if he is hungry. Most affectionate when due for a meal, Luke will use his adorable meow to let you know where to put his bowl when its time to eat! Plate placement (unsurprisingly) is important to Luke since he likes it in the same spot every time... just the way he likes everything else! This good ole boy is very comfortable around other cats and makes new feline friends easily. He saw dogs in his foster home, and although reserved, he tolerates them. His thoughts on children are unknown; however, we expect a calm and quiet home would be the best fit for him. Although Luke endured a rough start, this precious boy is now healthy and all ready for his forever home! Will you be the lucky one to take him home, earn his trust, and receive his love?
