“Toby” is an approx 140-lb (not a typo!), 7½-yo (born March 2015) neutered male GSD who is lovable, playful and protective. Toby is healthy overall but seriously overweight—he definitely needs to lose about 30 lbs or more. (See picture of Toby with his paws up on the spa.) Whoever adopts Toby must be committed to helping Toby get down to a healthy weight. 

Toby is good with strangers when properly introduced, but also a very good watchdog. He has not been around children much but did great with several kids recently during a family get-together. 

Toby has not been around many other dogs, but when he was boarded at a kennel he did fine w/ the other dogs there. He has never been around small dogs.

Toby is NOT good w/ cats.

Toby is housetrained and exceptionally good inside. His person (Lisa) leaves him inside for over eight hours on the days she works and he does just fine.

Toby never received formal obedience training but does obey basic commands like sit, stay and lie down. Toby walks OK on leash, but Lisa, who is somewhat disabled, is not able to walk him at all. 

Toby loves to go for car rides and is a good passenger. He loves to play with a soccer ball and loves water!

Toby’s people (Lisa and her husband) adopted him when he was seven months old. Toby was very bonded with Lisa’s husband, who Sadly died in February. Since then Toby has not received nearly as much attention, and especially exercise, as he did when Lisa’s husband was around. Lisa recognizes her limitations with Toby and is simply seeking a home where Toby can receive more attention and physical activity. 

Toby is located in Plumas Lake, about 10 miles south of Marysville. His adoption fee is $100.
