In shelter Dog

Myrtle Beach, SC, 29577
Pet name:
Mixed Breed
Porter is one of our longest term residents. He walks very well on a leash and is very treat motivated. He is also one of our dogs that really needs the right home with the right person. He has the potential to be a wonderful and loving dog but it will take time for him to form a bond with someone and trust them enough to feel comfortable because he one of our most human-fearful dogs. He is protective of his space but with the right person and motivations he could be easily trained. Porter will do best as the only pet in a home so that his adopter can give him all the time and attention he needs to adjust. He will not be a dog that can be taken out in public with large crowds. Introducing him to new people will have to be taken very slowly. Overall Porter needs an experienced dog handler who is willing to meet with him multiple times and work with him through his fearful behaviors.

If you are interested in adopting Porter or meeting any of our animals available for adoption you will need to fill out an online adoption application on our website. We are no longer able to reply to messages sent through our Petfinder page. Messages received through Petfinder will go unanswered.

FindpetTM is a Participating Pet Recovery Service Registry for the AAHA Universal Pet Microchip Lookup Tool. AAHA provides an internet-based application that enables veterinarians, humane organizations, pet owners or other persons to search various Pet Recovery Service registries and identify those registries on which a particular microchip is registered. AAHA is not affiliated or involved with any specific microchip registry and has no relationship, financial or otherwise, with this Participating Pet Recovery Service Registry ("Registry"). This Registry has given AAHA permission to search the Registry's database in order to assist pet owners in being reunited with their pets. AAHA does not maintain a database of microchips of its own. It only links to registries such as this one. The AAHA Universal Microchip Lookup Tool only searches the databases of companies that elect to participate in the program.
