For more information and the adoption application for Kala, please visit our website belowhttp://www.coastalgsr.org/dog_profile.php?ID=22393&name=KalaWe receive a lot of owner turn in applications and emails. That number has dramatically increased since the pandemic started and some of those people have been hit with really hard times that are altering their life due to no fault of their own. These two GSDs come from such a home. They were adored, well cared for, and their owners never thought they’d be in a situation where they’d ever have to discuss finding someone else to care for their dogs.It was very clear that they loved these dogs and we asked if there was anything we could do to help keep their family together, but they are selfless: their future is so up in the air right now, they didn’t want their dogs to have to manage that. They wanted them to have stability and a home and were putting their dogs first. It was so honorable and yet so sad, because we could tell how much they cared for them. We told them we’d take their girls into the rescue and find them someone who would love them just as much as they did. Watching them say their goodbyes was heartbreaking, but it just makes us want to find the best homes we can for these 7 and 8 year old girls. 💙These beauties are good in the house, grew up being socialized with other dogs, did well when their owner took them to dog parks, spent time around horses, and are fine meeting strangers. Although they didn&#39t spend a lot of time with young children, we can&#39t imagine they&#39d have an issue with older children. Kala is absolutely the sweetest girl and will roll over for belly rubs if you&#39re standing still long enough. Oh, she doesn&#39t put it all out there the second she meets you, but give her a day and she&#39ll be the best friend you could ever have. Kala has been with Riley since she was a puppy. As they are a bonded pair who would like to remain buddies for life, we will adopt them together for only one adoption donation. The minimum adoption donation for adults is $375 and the adoption donation for puppies is $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible. The adoption donation provides that all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis ( i.e., puppies who will need to be altered by 6 mos old). Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.
