Description:
Hi, I’m Sojourner! I’m a 2 year old female German Shepard who is ready to find her pack!

I am a true blue GSD and would do best in a home that understands my breed. I’m incredibly smart, I love hard, and I am completely devoted and loyal to my people. I may seem a little timid when we meet, but give me a chance to warm up and I’ll never leave your side.

Right now my absolute favorite thing is to lay by my person(s) side. I want my nose buried in your arms or as much of my body on your lap that I can possibly fit! Second best to loving on you is playing in water. Let me loose in a lake or a pool and I am in pure heaven! I dance on the waves and I barrel through and splash across as I play around with my people. Toys in the water are fun and all, but if you run in with me… oh boy we’re in for a good time!

Outside of the water, I’m actually a super mellow gal in the home and have the best house manners. That means you can trust me out alone. I’m also super quiet and only let out a little cry when you first leave me. Which makes me a great neighbor! I have taken fast to crate training and that’s where you can find me snuggled in at night. I cry just a little when I first go in (you can blame my foster mom for giving me taste of that bed life) but I thrive off of structure and leadership, so crate training is really good for me!

Because I’m a typical GSD I love to lead and protect those I love. That means sometimes I tug on the leash and could use your help relaxing on walks or when in new settings. When I’m in my home, I’m a sweet angel, but outside can be dangerous so I want to shelter you! I know that’s pretty silly because people like you are here to make sure I’m safe.

I live with two cats right now and we get along just fine. I do want to play with them every once in a while though, so a cat who’s dog savvy is preferred. Although...the cats I’m rooming with aren't actually very dog-savvy, so if YOU will tell me when it’s time to settle, that works, too.

As for dogs, I am dog friendly. I grew up with my brother and have lived and played nicely with others when I was in the shelter. However, because I am extremely loyal to my people, I need slow introductions and calmer dogs. With the proper leadership and some fun training classes together, I know I can be fully devoted to you and enjoy the company of others.

Because I can be timid in certain settings, a home with 12+ children would be the best.

If you think you can be the protector I need and are okay with letting me get in a thousand snuggles a day… okay my foster mom just said to be a little reasonable, so how about just a couple hundred a day? Anyways, as much love as possible is what I’m hoping for and if you’re ready for that then apply to meet me at rescuerovers.org.
