9-2-20: Claire has fully recovered from the surgery on her leg, but she still has coughing episodes after drinking water.  The suggestion is for her to see a specialist and have an endoscopic exam of her esophagus, including a deeper inspection of her mouth.  This specialized test is expensive and the results may or may not  tell us what the issue is.  Further, if there are results from the test, she may not be a candidate for surgery, especially considering her age.  She has lived with this cough for many  years and it is possible that it's best to just let it be, but we are still considering all options.  Claire continues to have skin allergy issues that we are managing.

6-4-20: Claire returned to the vet for hospitalization today, as her surgery leg had become infected.  After a night's stay with some intense treatment, she has returned home to continue her recovery.

6-1-20: Today, Claire underwent surgery to remove a tumor on her rear leg.  The tumor, which was walnut-sized, will be sent out to a pathologist for analysis.  Further, an extended dental exam and cleaning was performed, due to Claire's ongoing issue with coughing after drinking water.  It is believed she has an opening near one of her canine teeth, but today's thorough exam and cleaning did not reveal the cause.  We will be monitoring her when she returns home tonight.

Claire has now been to our vet and we have taken care of her current medical needs, such as flea dermatitis, ear infection, skin infection, intestinal parasites, vomiting, and diarrhea.  This cutie  pie was just groomed and her coat is growing back in where there was hair loss due to flea dermatitis.  She has started her monthly flea and heartworm prevention, which should be continued throughout her life.

Claire LOVES attention and to be near her humans. She will happily sit in your lap during TV time and will give a gentle nudge if she isn't receiving all of the attention she craves!  Claire is 11yo and quite the charmer.

This beautiful little girl has just arrived at our rescue and will be visiting our vet for all of her medical needs.  Once we receive test results, we will update her bio.  Claire is 11yo, and adorable!

All dogs adopted by Scottie Kingdom Rescue, Inc. have had a full medical exam by one of our licensed Veterinarians, which includes testing (and treatment, if necessary) for Heartworm disease, Lyme disease, Ehrlichia and Anaplasmosis, all necessary vaccinations, spay/neuter surgery, dental cleaning as necessary, microchipping, registration of the microchip, and any other medical needs each particular dog may need. Copies of all available medical records are transferred to you when the adoption is finalized.

We prefer to adopt to families with past Scottie, Westie, Terrier experience, but realize this isn’t always possible.   We do NOT ship our pets. If you have that special place in your heart, and in your home, for a Scottie (or any of our other available rescue dogs), please visit us in Dallas for an in person meet & greet session with our available dogs.   If you have existing dogs, they should travel to Dallas with you, so we can be assured that they will be compatible with the new addition to your family.

Please contact us at

to receive an Adoption Application or for more information on our Adoption process.  Also, please take the time to visit our website

for additional information.

We sometimes receive several applications on the same dog. Our goal is to place the dog in the best home possible, based on his/her needs, personality and past history. Please note:  Adoptions are not done on a first come, first served basis.  Submitting an application does not guarantee the adoption of any dog.   We are looking for the best available home for each of our rescue dogs.

Thank you for your understanding, and for considering adoption!
