Hi there! My name is Jordy, and I am a tri-color adult Mini Australian Shepard! I am a curious, happy-go-lucky guy who’s looking for a furever home! Here are some things you should know about me if you’re interested in becoming my new best friend.

Though I’m a bit shy at first, I adapt to new people quickly, and am a great companion to other animals (yes, including cats)! I like to take cues from my foster siblings for going outside and eating, and I’m very respectful towards them! I do need another dog in the home to help me with my confidence and routine. a buddy would be a great way for me to exercise in the fenced yard.

I am hoping my furever home has a fence as I am still working on leash training. I get distracted pretty easily while walking so for  this reason, my foster prefers to put me on a short leash and keep me focused.
As far as training goes, I am doing great with potty and crate training. My foster mom is great about keeping me on a routine (about a 6-hour time frame) to let me go outside. I do know the “wait” command, and am willing to learn some other commands, with food incentives, of course! When it comes to treats, I tend to take them very gently out of your hand, because I am a very respectful boy!

I’m not one to bark, but I do get nervous during thunderstorms and whenever I hear loud noises. When I am adjusting to a new environment, I sometimes pace back and forth. Once I get settled in, though, I won’t feel uneasy! I’m also not really the kind of guy to play with toys. I prefer snuggles on the couch and lots of pets before bed! If you like to snuggle, I’m your boy!

I might just be a small boy without a tail (we all have our quirks), but I am full of love! I want nothing more than to find a furever home that will offer lots of walks and cuddles. I hope you take me home soon!

Love,

Jordy

Some of our dogs are obtained from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends. Others have come from various situations where they are lacking confidence in humans. In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.

ADOPTION EVENTS:

Adoption events are updated as the foster home RSVP's to attend. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. You may wish to consider applying and setting up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

ADOPTION PROCEDURE:

The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website:

http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/

Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.

All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves. If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website

www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications

and fill out a foster application.

NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
