Animal Profile: Weston is a friendly chihuahua/cattle dog/JRT mix (best guess!) who is estimated to be ~3 years and currently weighs 13 pounds. He was rescued from a high kill shelter in southern CA. Our volunteer transporter reports that he is a happy, social and outgoing type of dude. We will post more as we get to know him. Foster Update: Meet Weston! He's a small dog at 13lbs, but has big dog energy! This boy is your perfect adventure buddy in a compact size. He's settling in well in his foster home, and reach to find a forever family to call his own. Weston is an affectionate pup and very much a lap dog when at hanging out at home. He is currently being fostered with a 60lbs dog, and they have quickly become best friends. Weston absolutely loves to play and would really enjoy another playful canine companion in his forever home. He recently got to join on his first PNW adventure with a long hike & cabin stay. Weston loved exploring the outdoors and had great energy for a longer hike. Weston is incredibly smart and a quick leaner. He didn't have much training when he arrived with us, but his foster family has been diligently working at his basic commands and obedience. He has improved in his crate training (still whines a little when left alone during the day, sleeps great in his crate at night) and has done great with potty training with a consistent routine. We are working on shaping up Weston's leash manners, as he can get excited quickly. We are working with him on teaching a loose leash heel, as well as being engaged with his human. He isn't the biggest fan of car rides, but that's improving with more exposure. His fur and skin weren't in the best shape when he arrived, but he's received numerous bathes and now being on a healthy diet, his skin and coat are starting to improve. Weston is looking for a forever home that will love and appreciate an equally cuddly & adventurous pup. He will need someone who can keep up and continue to commit to his basic obedience and training. Weston is such a smart, loving dog that would really enjoy and enriching lifestyle where he can be actively involved with his forever family.
