Dante is an exceptional cat. We rescued him in April 2020 because he was a super friendly community cat who wasn't doing so well. He had been outside his entire life and had been cared for by someone who fed him mostly scraps and occasionally cat food. It seems his diet may have caused him some health problems that nearly ended his life. He had really bad mouth and gastrointestinal issues when we saved him. He was brought to me as a hospice foster. Instead he has thrived and we could not be happier. Nobody deserves a long and happy life more than Dante. Dante is extremely sweet. He loves cuddling, belly rubs, and head scratches. He likes laying in bed and watching TV. He is not too playful although being in a home with many foster kittens has livened him up. Sometimes he will play with the kittens and chase toys with him and it's very cute to see him so happy. He doesn't really like toys but he likes to chase them and sometimes wrestle. In general, he is definitely more of a couch potato. He will lay with his human and with the kittens and sometimes will groom the kittens like he's their dad. It is the sweetest! He does not miss being an outside cat AT ALL - he barely looks out the windows!! - and he loves being spoiled. He likes to try out what I'm eating and what the foster kittens are eating. He had 8 teeth removed after we rescued him and he particularly loves treats and foods that are extra watery or small and easy to eat. He also loves spaghetti sauce :) but that is not healthy for him. Since he was raised on table scraps, he has a hard time understanding that people food is for people and sometimes he swipes my food. He likes to hang out on the kitchen counter and if I leave bread or bagels out, he tears open the bag to have some bites. He is ALWAYS interested in the kitchen :) He really loves Churu chicken filets and will pose for photos if I give him those as a reward otherwise he is pretty camera shy. Lately he also LOVE temptations. He does not eat dry food. Dante has slowly learned to like other adult cats - I think he gets a bit jealous of sharing his human at first but, after an adjustment period, he now enjoys the fosters who come in and out of my home. He would do well in a home with one or two other cats. He doesn't like to be alone. He is a very needy bean so it's nice for him to have other cats around. Even if he doesn't want to be bffs with another cat, he does like to be in same room or on opposite ends of the couch. He definitely never has had an enemy of the 15 or so cats he has met at my house since April. He is very submissive and gentle and would never hurt a fly. He would do well with someone who is home often. When he is alone, he finds small spaces and little nooks in which to hide out and wait for me to return. He really likes the top of the kitchen cabinets or shelf in the closet. Once I'm back home with him, he is out and about and ready to snuggle. He follows me around and always has to be near me. If I'm in another room with the door closed, he waits outside the door like a puppy. He can also open doors if they're not all the way closed :) He is a very smart boy who wants what he wants when he wants it. He thinks he is my guard dog and it is very sweet. Dante is a really good cat who is extremely loving and seems very grateful for his new life. I'd love for him to go to a calm home where someone will keep him company and spoil him and another cat friend rotten forever.INTERESTED IN ADOPTING?
