Description:
Hi, my name is Luca!

I’m a male GSD-mix and I’m about 6 years old. I was found as a stray and am currently being fostered with two female GSDs. At first, I was timid and scared to meet anyone new but have always been very comfortable and friendly with other dogs. In fact, my foster mom says that I seem to be more confident when other dogs are around, which makes total sense to me because they are just like me! I have been around a few teenage kids with no problems but the little kids scare me so my foster mom says I might do better with a family where there aren’t younger kids around.

I am fully house trained and like to go and sit quietly by the door until someone lets me out. My foster mom says I am such a polite boy! I am also crate trained, but it is not my favorite place to be for long periods of time. I am very good when left out at home. I just like to lay somewhere comfy and take a nap until my humans get home. I love naps! I am not really interested in toys or games and sometimes I get scared of those toys that squeak or make loud noises; I am not a fan of loud noises in general.

I am not food driven and not even really motivated by treats but my foster mom did discover that I LOVE coconut oil. I know some of the basic commands: Down, Come, Crate, No, but for some reason I just don’t like to Sit. I am very good on a leash and even do well off-leash once I know my surroundings. My foster mom says I heel better than her own dogs!

Overall, my three favorite things are taking a leisurely walk with my dog friends, being wherever everyone else is, and taking naps in a comfy bed. I have had some hard times in the past, so a low-key, relaxing life is the way for me. It would be great if my new forever family had a comforting, relaxing environment for me where I could socialize with other dogs and not have to be alone for too long. My foster mom says I am a truly special dog and will make someone a great companion.

If you think you can offer me my furever home, please reach out to your adoption coordinator. If you do not yet have an adoption coordinator, please complete an adoption application at www.freedomgermanshepherdrescue.org

I am being fostered near Charlotte, NC.

*Our volunteers process applications as quickly as they can, however it can take a little time. For this reason, the specific dog you apply for may not be available by the time your application is processed. If that happens we will do our best to find another perfect match for your family.*
