Description:
Jake Ryan could be compared to a fluffy teddy bear - he has a soft coat that's great to snuggle up with and he'll always be there for you when you need him! Some of Jake's favorite things besides snuggling are eating treats, watching tv, exploring new places and playing fetch. He's great at catching the ball and will even bring the ball back to you (most of the time). Then when it's time to relax, Jake is happy to oblige, rolling over on his back for belly-rubs, his tail happily wagging. Between his amazing smile and his goofy antics, Jake is guaranteed to brighten your day. He loves being with his friends, is eager to please and he'll never turn down a treat, knowing he needs to get into a "sit" for his reward. In addition to being a volunteer favorite, Jake has made a lot of doggie friends, too, and had a blast on a recent sleepover with one of his canine pals. Jake is also thriving in APA!'s Total Obedience Program (TOP), which is modeled after the AKC's Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test. As a TOP dog, Jake has a personalized training plan and works with a volunteer trainer several times a week to help him learn the skills to become the best dog he can be! Jake is learning skills like sit and down, walking nicely on leash, sitting calmly when approached by strangers or other dogs, staying in a sit or down until told "free," coming when called and "place", which means Jake will go to a specific place in your home on command. Once Jake successfully completes all the skills on his training plan, he will be considered TOP Dog Ready! Jake is working hard to become a wonderful companion, and as a part of APA's Total Obedience Program you can work with APA staff to continue to build a training relationship with him after adoption and master all the TOP dog skills together. Check out a video on APA's CGC program, on which the TOP was based: https://vimeo.com/89434193 Jake Ryan is currently accepting applications for forever homes, although households with little kiddos or cats need not apply. But if you're looking for a steady companion that you can bring on your adventures, look no further and come on down and meet handsome Jake Ryan!

FindpetTM is a Participating Pet Recovery Service Registry for the AAHA Universal Pet Microchip Lookup Tool. AAHA provides an internet-based application that enables veterinarians, humane organizations, pet owners or other persons to search various Pet Recovery Service registries and identify those registries on which a particular microchip is registered. AAHA is not affiliated or involved with any specific microchip registry and has no relationship, financial or otherwise, with this Participating Pet Recovery Service Registry ("Registry"). This Registry has given AAHA permission to search the Registry's database in order to assist pet owners in being reunited with their pets. AAHA does not maintain a database of microchips of its own. It only links to registries such as this one. The AAHA Universal Microchip Lookup Tool only searches the databases of companies that elect to participate in the program.
