Rex, formerly named Dexter, ended up at our doors when his original owner lost their home. This little man has a golden personality, but please keep in mind that he does not trust very well. It's hard telling what Rex originally went through in his younger years, but it's very obvious he has developed trust issues with people and other animals. Rex will need a family or person who is willing to be patient with him. He has a hard time with his words, so he lets you know what he dislikes by using his teeth. Please keep in mind that his butt is a very sensitive place for him. But once he gets to know you and trusts you, his belly is a great spot to rub on freely! Rex is very sweet and is waiting for that special person who can understand him and his past.This pet is considered to be a special case animal due to the current circumstances placed upon the pet of being removed from its original home/environment. This pet will require extra time and patience in order to become familiar and comfortable with its new home/environmentUnless otherwise stated, the adoption fees for dogs over 5 months range from $50-$175. Puppies under 5 months are $175.00. Dog adoption fees include a microchip.The adoption fee includes the animal's surgery, vaccinations, flea preventative, deworming medication, sample bag of food/treat samples and a free first exam with participating veterinarians. Shelter policy and 2018 Indiana state law decrees all animals must be spayed or neutered prior to leaving the shelter.Our shelter is open to the public on Monday- Saturday from 8:00 am -5:00 pm EST with the exception of Wednesdays on which we typically open by 1:00 pm.
