The shelter staff realized that he needed more time to overcome his fear, so they spent time with him and, after they gained his trust, he started to open up. When rescued, he had a cough so our vet took X-rays and it was determined that he was in the very beginning stages of pneumonia. He was put on medication and, even before he was cleared, he felt much better and his personality really started to shine. This 93 pound chocolate/liver colored Rottie is easy on a leash and walks well with other dogs. He doesn&#39t appear to have ever lived with other dogs, though, and would need help in order to live in a multi-dog home. He spent time in a home with other dogs and children and, while he was good with the kids, he didn&#39t appreciate the other dogs approaching him. Considering how fearful he was in the beginning, he&#39s still come a long way and just needs someone with large breed experience to take him the rest of the way.The minimum adoption donation for adults is $375 and the adoption donation for puppies is $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible. The adoption donation provides that all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis ( i.e., puppies who will need to be altered by 6 mos old). Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.
