In shelter Dog

New York, United States
Pet name:
Shepherd, Mixed
Coat length:
Gunner is a male Shepherd mix rescued in Texas. Our veterinary partner estimates that Gunner is 2 years old at the time of intake in July 2020. Gunner is good with people of all ages and other dogs.   All this handsome guy knew of life was the short wire he was tied to in someone's backyard, without a human word or touch, suffering with no shelter from the rain, heat and cold, eating only sporadic meals and water oftentimes placed out of his reach. But on the 4th of July, Gunner's independence was finally won and he was rescued from that life!  Gunner is now a Rescue Dogs Rock NYC pup and that means his life will be something to celebrate.  Gunner spent his entire life watching the world pass by without him, and he is now learning how to live in that world inside a home where he is loved and cherished. Gunner will need a patient, understanding family that is willing to work with Gunner and continue the training Gunner is currently receiving as he acclimates to life off of a chain.  If you can open your heart and home to Gunner, please apply online to adopt Gunner at

RDR's adoption fees include the cost of spay/neuter/microchip at an RDR-approved facility, whether completed before adoption or if deferred because the pet is too young or has a medical issue.  All pets are also current on age-appropriate vaccines at the time of adoption.

Given technical constraints on this database, this pet's location may not be as listed here. We can, however, provide transport support for pets in foster at a considerable distance from the adopter.

FindpetTM is a Participating Pet Recovery Service Registry for the AAHA Universal Pet Microchip Lookup Tool. AAHA provides an internet-based application that enables veterinarians, humane organizations, pet owners or other persons to search various Pet Recovery Service registries and identify those registries on which a particular microchip is registered. AAHA is not affiliated or involved with any specific microchip registry and has no relationship, financial or otherwise, with this Participating Pet Recovery Service Registry ("Registry"). This Registry has given AAHA permission to search the Registry's database in order to assist pet owners in being reunited with their pets. AAHA does not maintain a database of microchips of its own. It only links to registries such as this one. The AAHA Universal Microchip Lookup Tool only searches the databases of companies that elect to participate in the program.
