Description:
Hi! My name is Miata or Mia for short. I was born around 6/20. My mom is a heeler mix, but we dont know who my dad is. I am roughly 3 months old and about 15 pounds. Not sure how big I will get, but guessing about 50-60 pound.

I was the runt of the litter, but I am sassy, spunky and sweet. I have a lot of energy. I love being with my humans and follow my foster mom around when ever I get the chance. I am not big into cuddling right now, there is far too much fun to be had to sit still for that long.

In my foster home I have 3 foster siblings. The 10 year old lab and 13 year old dachshund mix, they dont particularly care for me because I have too much energy for them, however they correct me when I get too in their face and I redirect well and have learned to approach with caution. My 5 year old dachshund mix foster sibling is my friend and we play together very well. She plays tug with me, we run and chase each other, and wrestle. I love playing with my foster sister. Tug of war is my absolute favorite.

I am not house trained yet but I am doing pretty good at using the pee pads when I am out playing (80% of the time I hit the pad).

I do not like to be kenneled. I whine and bark in the kennel during the day. I do really well in the kennel at night after I have been playing all evening. Bed time is normally around 9 pm (after playing for 3 hours), I will stay quiet until about 6/6:30 usually, unless I need to potty really bad than I will bark to walk up my humans.

I am like a typical toddler, everything goes in my mouth. I am teething right now and I have very sharp puppy teeth still.

My breed is know to be a working dog. I need mental stimulation as much as physical stimulation, because of how much energy and how vocal I can be while I am adjusting, I would do best in a home with a fence, or a very active family at least (lots of walks and playing). An apartment is not a good fit for me, and share walls are a bit concerning. I really could use training, but I do learn quickly. I learned sit in one day, with my foster siblings leading by example and those yummy treats. Having another dog has helped me learn in my foster home and would be beneficial in my furever home too.

If you are interested in meeting me or knowing more about me please email my foster mom Kelsey at Kblazer03@hotmail.com.

My adoption fee is $550 (no checks)

Our fosters do the best they can to provide all information about the animals background and temperament while in foster care in their home. An adopters routine and home environment is likely going to be different than that in their foster home. Sometimes there is more that comes out about a dogs personality once they have been able to settle in a home & truly become comfortable. There are great articles out there written about the different stages a pet goes through after adoption; discussing transitions that happen at 3 days, 3 weeks, & 3 months. We highly recommend reading about this - it will help you understand the transition your new pet goes through.

Last Hope, Inc. is an all volunteer, foster based, no kill rescue! You can see almost all of our dogs on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of each month from 11 am - 2 pm at Lakeville PetSmart (located by Hy-Vee just off 160th & Pilot Knob).

Policies: You do not have to have a fence to adopt a dog from us, but some dogs will require a fence or acres to play, or an active family who will make sure the dog gets the exercise it needs to be happy. Some dogs do not have the temperament that will do well with young children.
The Adoption Fee is not enough to cover the vet bills. Sales tax of almost 7.25% is also included in the adoption fee that you see. Please consider donating to Last Hope to help us save these animals!

CAN YOU FOSTER? By taking a dog or puppies temporarily into your home and then coming to our adoption days to help find them homes, we can save more! You can also apply to be a foster home on our webpage! In the upper left hand corner there’s a drop down tab with the link for canine foster home. Just fill it out online & submit!
