Description:
Arial is a SUPER SPECIAL dog in that she is both blind and deaf, the result of breeding to obtain the blue eyes or the merle black and white color. However, what she lacks in senses she makes up for in personality and companionship. Arial lives by her favorite 3s - spinning, sleeping, and sniffing.
Arial uses spinning as a way to show how she is feeling and typically the faster she spins the more excited she is. She will also spin when she is learning her environment or if she feels like she is in a stressful environment. Arial LOVES to sleep and it is how she spends most of her days. If she finds a blanket, it is guaranteed that she will make her way under it. At night, she likes to sleep under the blankets with you to stay nice and warm.
As the weather is warming up, she enjoys sunbathing on the porch. And for the final s - sniffing. Since she cannot hear or see, she relies heavily on her sense of smell. On her walks, there is a lot of stop and sniff so she can take in her environment. She also quickly learns the scent of her humans and gets excited when she smells that they are home!
Arial lived with three other dogs - Great Danes and a German Shepherd - and did very well with them. Devastatingly, her human father recently died after a long battle with cancer - he was strong and endured a LOT for a long time - but lost that battle Nov. 21. Fortunately, his two Great Danes are now rehomed w/a former friend.
Arial would do best either in a home without any dogs (she has thrived in a temporary foster home without any dogs) or a home with dogs similar to her size (around 20-30 lbs). When introduced to a small dog, it upset her greatly (after all, she only has her sense of smell, which is too much, given ALL shes been through). Please, will someone who has the heart for special needs and is home (either work-from-home or doesnt work outside the home) consider fostering (or better yet, adopting) her? She is SO SPECIAL!
