This dear girl is 3 years old, and a red merle, with true working type dark liver red. No tail and two bright blue eyes. Shes 46 lbs which is a good weight for her, but she appears smaller. Her coat is a little threadbare right now because she had puppies in the recent past. Right now she is pretty nervous about indoor living—we suspect she was always an outdoor dog. She lets herself be handled with no problem so shes nervous with people but not hostile. She passed her cat test at the shelter, and is lovely with other dogs. She is quiet in a crate and comes when called now in a securely fenced back yard, which is a necessity for her as she gets scared and avoids human contact sometimes. She needs to be walked on leash even in a securely fenced area for at least the first week in a new home, and as with any dog new to your house, will need to be leashed to you or crated when you are opening and closing doors to a non-fenced area. Bailey Blue has gotten the hang of doors now and comes in when called from the fenced yard and has figured out which way the door opens. This is nice progress for her. Being scared of coming inside and doorways and not getting which way doors open is a classic tip-off to a dog that has never lived indoors. Bailey Blue does love her food and, after feeding her in the crate so other dogs didnt steal her food when she wasnt eating right away the first few days, she now comes to the kitchen when she sees dinner dishes being handed out and will eat closer to the other dogs and doesnt need to have her dish sequestered-- the food disappears fast! This girl is a flower waiting to bloom and it will just take some common sense management till she learns no one is going to hurt her and she doesnt need to bolt out an open door or leap over a gate and escape. She may never be a very social dog with people she doesnt know but its clear she will learn to love and trust at least one or two people. Bailey Blue is fostered in Collegeville PA.
