Avery is an adult, female mini Aussie mix. She needs a very special adopter. First, she needs an experienced owner. She is wary of strangers, but once she is familiar with you, she is eager for affection. In fact, on her way into the building after spending time outdoors, she routinely goes behind the office desk and waits for some attention from whatever volunteer is behind the counter at the time. We have had adopters in past years take special interest in dogs like Avery. The placements turned into successes because the potential adopters came to the shelter several times to bond with the dogs before making the transitions into the home settings. This is the expectation we have for Averys potential adopter. Avery is very loving once she knows you. She just needs to know that you are not a threat and build trust with you before heading home.

We want potential adopters to be fully informed of Averys idiosyncrasies and also set Avery up for success. She has been at the shelter for quite some time, but we are confident that she can make a transition into a home when the right adopter expresses interest.
