Description:
fluffy girl ISO forever family! MAGPIE NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!!
Name: Magpie Best Guess for Breed: Australian shepherd mix

Best Guess for Age: 2 years as of September 2022 SEX: Female

Approximate Weight: 28 lbs

Gets Along With: Magpie has lived with dogs, cats, and kids and has done well with all!
Currently Living at: South Carolina shelter; will need a foster or forever home in the DC area to come up after completing heartworm treatment.

Special adoption considerations: Magpie is heartworm positive. Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. Heartworm dogs can resume full active and normal lives, but need to be kept calm for 4-6 weeks after treatment. Magpie is scheduled to have treatment as soon as possible so the recovery process can begin. We are happy to talk more in depth about heartworm disease and treatment during the screening process.

Magpie is Looking For: Her forever family! Magpie is in her prime - out of the puppy yips and has all that awesome adult dog energy - and is eager for romps in the park and all the adventures her humans can dream up once she has recovered from heartworm treatment. More than that, though, she yearns to be under her own roof, safe and loved. In exchange she promises adoring gazes and loyal companionship for all her days. What do you say? Can you see her curled up next to you (or on your lap, even?) as you two chill after a fun day together?

What My Foster Says About Me: We will update this after she has arrived in the DC area and spent some time with her foster
