Description:
Meet Abby! The scars on the outside dont even grace the inner scars that this girl holds on the inside. This girl came from a home where multiple breeds were left to multiply within the home. Of course how could one or two people give the right care and socialization needed to make a dog whole. Even if they thought they were doing the right thing.

So here we are with Miss Abby! Her story in a nutshell. Abby has a few people at the shelter that she has grown an attachment with but still needs a lot of wholesome TLC to make her blossom. One good thing is this girl is very food motivated. We work her brain by making her work for her meals. Whether they are in a Kong, puzzle feeder, or spread outback in the yard. Abby hasnt quite become comfortable being walked or led around on a leash. We know with some good repetition and some yummy foods she will come around enjoying the leash walks. With that being said we are looking for a home that will allow Abby to grow on her own time. There neednt be a time frame on her achievements. Maybe seek the help of a trainer who will work one on one with Abby and her new adopter.

Abby did come in with her brother. Since she did spend a lot of time with other dogs she might benefit from a calm but well rounded or confident dog. A dog that will help her grow in her personality. We have seen glimpses of this. How she loves to just cuddle on your lap when she gains trust. I think Abby would benefit from a home with older children. ( 13 yrs or older) Kitties we have not introduced her to as things overwhelm this girl pretty easily. This girl would benefit from a fenced in yard for her safety.

Abby is a 2 yr old Beagle/Dascund mix about 35 lbs. We are guessing breeds due to the amount of dogs within the home at the time Abby came to us. Abby has since been spayed, current on adult vaccines, wormed, and flea and tick preventative.

Please call or email us with any questions about this girl. Please note Abby will probably need to meet her future adopters more than once. She will need to meet any canine friends in the home as well. You can call 607-739-3945 or email office@horseheadscommunityanimalshelter.com.
