Description:
When we welcomed this pint-sized pup into the program, she came to us as a girl named "Spot." While not a first choice for a name, it is perhaps an appellation at least befitting her previous circumstances. Shes a spot of a darling at 20 lbs and was left at the shelter, unwanted and disregarded with a name that seems to have been given as little thought as her existence. A sad name for a sad, scared girl. The shelter reached out, forewarning that she was skittish and unsure.

A team member evaluated her, and though she will need some work, there is a spark of resiliency, hope, and promise. So, we will do our very best, as we have in the past, and our foster team will work on teaching her what it feels like to be cherished and handled with love and compassion. Theyll have some time to do so, because Spot will need to be treated for heartworms. For now, her foster mom is referring to her as "Princess Buttercup" and any other terms of endearment and baby talk that one might find themselves compelled to use to sooth a frightened child.

Adoption includes vetcheck, vaccinations, spay, and microchip. Current on heartworm preventative and flea preventative.

Our adoptions include a foster period of 4-6 weeks so that you can be sure that this pet is a good fit without any pressure, and we are available to answer any behavior or training questions during that time (and beyond, if you wish).

** Local adoptions preferred (within Greater New Orleans area and surrounding parishes). We do not ship animals, as a part of our adoption process is for the potential adopter(s) to meet the dog to assess if he/she is a match for the family.
