All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated. * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fee is $400-$1000. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee. This dog will be at a meet and greet event on Saturday, September 24th and Sunday, September 25th unless he/she is adopted prior to the event with a set up home. The event is from 12 pm to 3 pm on Saturday and 11 pm to 3 pm on Sunday at Palo Altos Pet Food Express. Those interested in meeting the dog can come out to our meet and greet event. We no longer do application approval onsite. Anyone adopting has been previously approved and set up to meet prior to the event. Adoption fee: $650 Jelly Bean is a 6 month old Beagle-Chi who was a rescue from the shelter. Shes a tiny lil bean weighing all of 6.8 lbs. She was terrified, shaking in the back of her shelter kennel. Our volunteers coaxed her into a crate and took her back to our Safehouse, and the transformation was incredible! After a few weeks in foster, shes really blossomed and has learned how to dog. Here is the report from her loving foster home! Jelly Bean is an active puppy looking to her people for direction, playtime and love! She was very hesitant when we got her and remains a bit scared of new people, but warms up really quickly and cant get enough of her humans. She will do great with some direction and puppy training to build her confidence. Our routine: she sleeps perfectly in her crate and wakes up when we do (anywhere from 7-9am). She goes right outside to potty in the yard, then enjoys her breakfast. Then its playtime! Jelly is mouthy, as puppies can be, and needs reinforcement to teach her what she can chew on (not fingers!). She loves her bully sticks and kongs. She is also a huge fan of toys- just check out her bio photo! Jelly Bean also loves walks - shes learning how to be brave on a leash and will look to her person for guidance and reassurance. Shes been on a few hikes and has done great! Shes ready for some new adventures with her forever family. Jelly Bean is house-trained, although she had a few accidents when we had the door closed and when we first got her. Now she just heads out to the yard when she needs to go. Dinner is around 5 pm, followed my more play, zoomies, snuggles, a walk, and then bed around 10 pm. Shed be a great dog for anyone with the patience to help an active puppy learn some manners :). She is good with other dogs but would be perfectly happy being the only dog in the home and having the attention all to herself. She can get a bit competitive with her foster brother for mamas attention and her fosters are working with her on learning that sharing is caring. Jelly Bean is only an option for a home that has owned a dog in the last 5 years. Due to her timidness, shes best suited to a home with kids 10+.
