Description:
Gracie, thats me! I am full of quiet joy. I love my yard, my beagle besties in my foster home, and a snooze in the sun.

I am a stunning tri-color girl, weigh 32 pounds, and am 5 years old. I am a very young 5 years old, with an alert and happy personality.

I get along with other dogs well.

Im potty trained (using doggie door). I dont mind sleeping in a crate, but Im just fine on a sofa, too! I dont chew things or wreak havoc while the household is asleep. If you are gone for the day, I am fine.

Me and three others were left alone after our owner died earlier this summer. A dear friend brought us to Basset & Beagle Rescue of the Heartland so that we could find another happy home. It has been hard on me, going to a strange environment, but I am adapting.

My foster dad talks to me quietly and I like that a lot. I just love people, I really do, but Im a little slow to warm up. It took me a week before I let foster dad pet me, but I run up to him with the other dogs now.

Foster dad had to go out of town and I was left with another foster for a week. I was the same with her. I explored and had a great time, but when it came time for some love and snuggles, I wasnt sure what to do. I wagged my tail, I bounced around in front of her, I was anxious to please. But I couldnt quite bridge the gap to be petted. I wouldnt even come to her for a treat, although I really, really love treats. After about a week, she could gently rub under my chin, and I would gingerly take a treat. Foster dad picked me up then and I was so very glad to see him. I had only been with him a month, but, you see, I do bond easily once I get rolling!

Because I am timid, Im not sure I would do well with very small children. They might scare me. I might like older children if they are quiet and patient with me.

I get along well with the other dogs in my foster home, as mentioned above, however, I recently went on a trial with a family that did not work out. They had a doggie that was bigger than me and I was scared of him. He was very friendly, but I was still scared of him. Because of this, I need a patient transition to make sure I feel safe, or an advance meeting with any dogs in the home would be best.

Im spayed, have all my shots, and Im chipped. Now I just need a fur-ever home!

I am fostered in Humboldt, NE which is in the SE part of the state. I am up to date on shots, spayed and microchipped. My adoption fee is $400.00 and you can apply to be my forever family at www.bassetandbeagle.org.
