Timber is loyal, extremely affectionate, playful, drivey, and goofy. Not whiny or overly vocal, she wants nothing more than to spend her entire day with her humans. Timber loves hiking, swimming, playing fetch, training, and is an expert cuddler. She has a high toy drive and medium-high food drive. She is eager to learn and wants to please her handler. She has great house manners and has a wonderful off switch when sufficiently exercised. Timber has a solid grasp of obedience, knows all the basics, and has been started in scent work. While Timber does well in the house, she does not do well when crated and must have an Impact kennel. She cannot be left alone unsupervised as she will become destructive. While she has made progress, she will always have some level of anxiety when crated. Timber rides well free in vehicles and loves road trips. However, she should not be left alone in a vehicle as she can be destructive. Timber does not have any resource guarding issues, but can be intense with toys. She is good with most dogs and tends to be on the overly submissive side of the pack. She has lived with cats but true to her breed, will chase them if they run. She has successfully been around livestock, but requires management. Timber can be anxious in busy, crowded, public environments. She has a history of reactivity when stressed. Urban or suburban settings is not for Timber. She will thrive in a lower traffic, rural environment. Her ideal living situation would be with a person/family who works from home or spends the majority of their time with her. She will not be successful if left at home all day.
