Birkin is a gorgeous 6 year old 96lb Bernese Mountain Dog. She was surrendered by a horrible puppy mill and unfortunately had to be shaved due to the extent of her matting. Her coat is growing back now and she feels so much better to be free of the horrible coat that carried her past experiences. Birkin is low energy and timid. She does warm up to people and will be your little shadow around the house but it takes some time. She has never lived with people before so she gets frightened when new people try to interact with her too much. She will cower and flinch at sudden movements but once he is comfortable with you and trusts you, she is a total love bug! She enjoys cuddling, sitting at your feet, and watching you do chores. She likes to explore outside and prance around the yard. Birkin originally enjoyed being around other dogs but has started to get insecure and will now defend herself if she feels threatened. We recommend no other dogs in her home unless you are willing to be very patient and do slow introductions, possibly under the guidance of a trainer. No medium to small dogs and no cats for safety reasons. Birkin is a fabulous girl that has unfortunately lead a very hard life until she was rescued. She will need somebody who is willing to be patient with her and let her decompress on her own time. She will make an absolutely fantastic companion! Birkin needs a house with a fenced yard.
