Eleanor, 4 years old, spayed female, Boxer/Hound mix, 47 lbs. She is in a foster home in Houston, Texas and can transport to an approved adopter.

Eleanor and her puppies were found in a neighborhood alley outside Houston, TX. A kind family took them home and found us to help them all find homes. The puppies have all made their way home and now we are excited to find Eleanor her family!

Eleanor is dog friendly and shares a home with several other dogs (both resident dogs and other fosters). She takes a little time to warm up and then is great friends. She prefers dog friends who arent trying to be in her face all the time. She is not super interested in playing with other dogs and usually keeps to herself or will follow the other dog around.

She is a lower energy dog who will run around with the other dogs at times, but for the most part lays down somewhere in the house. She will chase/run behind the other dogs in the house, but for the most part prefers to chill.

Eleanor has not gone too many places outside of the home, so her leash skills could use some work. She appears to walk well on leash. She is very submissive and will pancake down before she were to ever negatively react to another dog.

We have no history with cats or kids. We recommend a home with kids 10 years and older.

We think Eleanor lived on the streets for a large part of her life. She is housebroken, but does not alert you like other dogs would do by going to the door/crying or whining. She goes outside with the other dogs/fosters when they go out. We think she would do best with another dog in the home.

She does NOT like the crate. We think the small space makes her very nervous and will try to chew off the crate door. She is not destructive in any other situation and does not chew on anything else.

She has not shown any type of aggression towards food, treats, or toys. If one of my dogs goes to her bowl she I’ll walk away and let the other dog eat the food. Again, she will back away/backdown. She is not a fighter ****

Eleanor’s perfect family would be maybe a retired couple or a family with a low physical activity in their life. all this dog wants to do is lay on the couch and sleep. You can give her belly rubs while she is on the couch. She has no anxiety level. We leave for work and she is laying on the couch we come back home from work and she is in the same spot. She has not moved.***

Before you consider adopting Eleanor, please take in mind that she is semi-feral and if you don’t have the time to train her or get to know her then she is not the dog for you. She needs someone who will be patient with her and show her the kindness that she never received.
