Mere is a laid back female chocolate lab mix, who is approximately 7 years old and weighs 55 lbs. Her world was turned upside down when her owner surrendered her after they lost their job, and then their home to a fire. Mere is very laid back and loves to just hang out with her people. She is a super sweet girl who is crate and house trained. Mere is good with other dogs and would be fine with kids. She loves to sing or talk to you and can be very verbal in a cute way! Please contact us if you would like Mere to be your new best friend! Update from Meres foster mom: Mere arrived at my house a timid and wary dog who kept her distance. I sensed her to be gentle and sweet and wanting to be friends, but she didn’t trust enough to be so. I gave her the space she needed and within 2 days she started to relax and welcome small gestures from me. Fast forward one week and she now greets me when I come home with her tail wagging and a grin on her face. She accepts (and seeks out) all affection and follows me from room to room. Mere would do best in a quiet home with people who will be gentle and understanding and give her the time she needs to trust her people and feel safe. She dislikes being crated enough that she should not be. She has wonderful house manners and does not chew, counter surf or jump on furniture. She sleeps quietly on her dog bed the entire night. She has been around children (ages 9 and 12) who were respectful of her and she did great. She actually gravitated toward them. Mere is very low maintenance and doesn’t really even like to be leash walked. When not following me around, she likes to lounge around outside on the patio, so a fenced yard would be ideal. Mere also takes treats extremely gently. She is just a sweet, gentle soul who asks for very little but to be loved. For additional information about Mere please email Deb Cook Keavy at deb.cook.keavy@labs4rescue.org Mere is being fostered in Connecticut. IMPORTANT INFORMATION: We receive many questions about our adoption process from potential adopters, most of which can be answered by viewing our "Adopt a Lab" page on our full service website, https://labs4rescue.com/. To expedite the process, please follow the step-by-step instructions outlined and submit an adoption application listing 3-5 dogs of interest. Please hurry as your new best friend is waiting for you! ADOPTION FEES: $395 non-refundable adoption fee for all vet expenses (spay/neuter, shots, etc.) and transportation to ensure your lab gets to you in a safe, professional manner. All fees may be paid using PayPal, cashiers checks, or money orders. Labs4rescue does not accept personal checks for adoption fees. All adopters must pay their Labs4rescue adoption fee prior to the rescue shipping their dog. Residents of Massachusetts or New Hampshire are required to pay an additional $125 fee, which defrays the cost of their states mandatory 48 hour isolation and examination by a licensed veterinarian.
