Adoption Process:

Step 1:
Complete a "no obligation" application located on our website at pawprintsnky.com under the applications tab. Adopters must live within 100 miles of Florence, KY.

Step 2:
PawPrints will review the application, verifying Vet and personal references as well as landlord requirements/restrictions (if applicable)

Step 3:
IF your application is approved, we will call you to schedule a meet and greet for you to meet the pet.

Step 4:
If the meet and greet goes well, we will schedule the home visit.

Breed: Best guess is German Shepherd/Collie

Spayed: Yes

Vaccinated: Yes

Adoption Fee: $250 (plus tax)

Dogs: Nova has gotten along well with the other dogs in her foster home and hasnt had any issues being around other leashed dogs in public. She requires slow introductions to other dogs. Nova is a sweet, gentle pup who wouldnt do well in a home with dogs that struggle with aggression or resource guarding issues.

Cats: Nova is curious about cats but has not tried to chase or bite the cats in her foster home. At worst she may be annoying by licking and nosing them.

Kids: Nova lives in a foster home with older (10+) children and while she behaves well with them, she is still very much a puppy in an oversized body. She is learning not to jump on people but still needs to be reminded. She also tugs and nips on her persons shirt when she is excited. For these reasons Nova should not be in a home with small children, and only with older children who are familiar with being around larger dogs.

Crate Trained: Yes but needs work. Nova will tolerate a crate but if something startles her she will paw heavily at the door to get out.

Leash Manners: Nova loves going on regular walks and is prong collar trained. She walks well without trying to pull her handler.

Training: Nova is a smart pup and is easily motivated to train. She knows sit, down, paw, place, crate and come. She knows all of these commands reliably but like most puppies is still working on duration.

Home Recommendation: Novas ideal home would be with active, patient adult(s) and a dog friend.

Nova loves being outside and will gladly join you for outdoor games (fetch is her favorite) or a nice long walk. She also enjoys cuddling with her human and stealing random objects to "bury" in her bed. Nova even thinks the vaccum is great fun - she loves when you use the hose attachment to scratch her belly!

While Nova enjoys playing like most young dogs, she struggles with a high anxiety level from lack of socialization. She is currently taking medication for this and may need it for some time. Nova is easily startled by unfamiliar sights or sounds. She often paces, pants or barks when she is anxious. However she is improving every day. Nova would greatly benefit from a patient, understanding family who is willing to work with her and enlist the help of a professional trainer. If the adopter is local, we will pay for a set of training classes through our trainer, in the Florence, KY area.
